1. Who is Grohood?

Grohood is the brand of Risio Technologies Pvt Ltd, a company incorporated under the laws of India, having its registered office at Gopalan Garden,Veerasandra,Electronic city, India (“the Company”) offers various solutions, including through its website grohood.com and other applications (“Platforms”) various online grocery solutions, which inter alia facilitates the sale and purchase of products across categories related to grocery and general merchandise (“Products”) by users of the Platforms (“Users”)

2. What is this Privacy Policy?

Grohood follows 100% data compliance as per Indian Government rules and regulations.

We know that you care how information about you is used and shared. For your information Grohood follows 100% data protection compliance as per government of India’s guidelines .

We appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This Privacy Notice describes how Risio Technologies Private Limited and its affiliates including Grohood, collect and process your personal information through Grohood Mobile Application, devices, products, services, online marketplace and applications that reference this Privacy Notice (together “Grohood”).

This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”), together with the terms of use, describes the Company’s policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of the information provided by Users and Visitors (as defined herein below) of the Platforms. The Company shall not use the User’s information in any manner except as provided under this Privacy Policy. Every User who accesses or uses the Platforms shall be bound by this Privacy Policy.

3. Why this Privacy Policy?

3.1 This Privacy Policy is published pursuant to:

3.1.1. Section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000;

3.1.2. Regulation 4 of the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Information) Rules, 2011 (“SPI Rules”); and

3.1.3. Regulation 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines) Rules, 2011.

3.2 This Privacy Policy sets out the type of information collected from the Users, including the nature of the sensitive personal data or information, the purpose, means and modes of usage of such information and how and to whom the Company shall disclose such information.

4. What type of information is covered by this Privacy Policy?

The Privacy Policy applies to information collected and processed by the Company consisting of following:

4.1 Personal information is information related to a visitor, or a combination of pieces of information that could reasonably allow him to be identified. Personal information may consist of full name, personal contact numbers, residential address, email address. 

4.2. Sensitive personal data or information is such personal information that is collected, received, stored, transmitted or processed by the Company, consisting of:

    • Name,Address,email,Phone number,Password,Photopass.
    • Financial information such as bank account or credit card or debit card or other payment instrument details;
    • Any detail relating to the above personal information categories as provided to the Company for providing service; and
    • Any of the information received under above personal information categories by the Company for processing, stored or processed under lawful contract or otherwise.

Please note that any information that is freely available or accessible in public domain or furnished under the Right to Information Act, 2005 or any other law for the time being in force shall not be regarded as sensitive personal information.

5. What Personal Information About Customers Does Grohood Collect?

We collect your personal information in order to provide and continually improve our products and services.

Here are the types of personal information we collect:

Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you provide in relation to Grohood Services. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our Grohood Services.

Automatic Information: We automatically collect and store certain types of information about your use of Grohood, including information about your interaction with content and services available through Grohood. Like most of the mobile applications, unique identifiers, and we obtain certain types of information when your device accesses Grohood services and other content served by or on behalf of Risio Technologies. 

6. For What Purposes Does Grohood Use Your Personal Information? 

We use your personal information to operate, provide, develop, and improve the products and services that we offer our customers. These purposes include: 

  • Purchase and delivery of products and services. We use your personal information to take and fulfil orders, deliver products and services, process payments, and communicate with you about orders, products and services, and promotional offers.
  • Provide, troubleshoot, and improve Grohood Services. We use your personal information to provide functionality, analyse performance, fix errors, and improve the usability and effectiveness of the Grohood Services. To identify the User, to understand his/her/its needs and resolve disputes, if any;
  • Recommendations and personalization. We use your personal information to recommend features, products, and services that might be of interest to you, identify your preferences, and personalize your experience with Grohood Services.
  • Provide voice, image and camera services. When you use our voice, image and camera services, we use your voice input, images, videos, and other personal information to respond to your requests, provide the requested service to you, and improve our services.
  • Comply with legal obligations. In certain cases, we collect and use your personal information to comply with laws. For instance, we collect from sellers information regarding place of establishment and bank account information for identity verification and other purposes.
  • Communicate with you. We use your personal information to communicate with you in relation to Grohood Services via different channels (e.g., by phone, e-mail, chat).
  • Advertising. We use your personal information to display interest-based ads for features, products, and services that might be of interest to you. We do not use information that personally identifies you to display interest-based ads.
  • Fraud Prevention and Credit Risks. We use personal information to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in order to protect the security of our customers, Grohood, and others. We may also use scoring methods to assess and manage credit risks. To detect and protect the Company from error, fraud and other criminal activities;
  • To aid the Company in collecting monies from Users for transactions carried out on the Platforms;
  • To enforce the Terms of Use; and Other reasons which, prior to being put into effect, shall be communicated to the Users through an update carried out to this Privacy Policy.

7. User Notes

  • The Company does not exercise control over the websites displayed as search results or links from within the Services. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on the Users’ computer, collect data or solicit personal information or Financial Information from the Users, for which the Company shall not be held responsible or liable. The Company does not make any representations concerning the privacy practices or policies of such third parties or terms of use of such websites, nor does the Company guarantee the accuracy, integrity, or quality of the information, data, text, software, sound, photographs, graphics, videos, messages or other materials available on such websites. The inclusion or exclusion does not imply any endorsement by the Company of such websites, the websites’ provider, or the information on the website.
  • When a User visits or uses the Platforms, the Company may access, collect, monitor and/or remotely store data in relation to the User’s location, which may also include global positioning system coordinates or similar information regarding the location of the device using which the User has visited or used the Platforms. The location data does not collect or share any personally identifiable information about the User.
  • The Company may keep records of telephone calls received from and made to Users for the purpose of administration of Services, research and development, training, business intelligence, business development, or for User administration. The Company may share the telephone records with third parties when required by law or when required to provide or facilitate the User with the Services.
  • All information collected from the Users by the Company is maintained in electronic form on servers and/or cloud systems and shall be accessible by certain employees of the Company or Authorized Vendors. The User information may also be converted to physical form from time to time. Regardless of the manner of storage, the Company shall make commercially reasonable endeavors to ensure that the User information is rendered confidential, and will disclose User information only in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.
  • The User’s visit to and/or use of the Platforms and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. The Company may update this Privacy Policy at any time, with or without advance notice. The Company shall not be required to notify the Users of any changes made to this Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility, in such cases, to review the terms of this Privacy Policy from time to time.
  • All the Company employees and data processors, who have access to and are associated with the processing of personal information or Financial Information provided by Users are obliged to respect the confidentiality of every User’s personal information or Financial Information.

8. Does Grohood Share Your Personal Information? 

Information about our customers is an important part of our business and we are not in the business of selling our customers’ personal information to others. We share customers’ personal information only as described below and with Grohood. and subsidiaries that Risio Technologies Pvt ltd. controls that either are subject to this Privacy Notice or follow practices at least as protective as those described in this Privacy Notice.

  • Transactions involving Third Parties: We make available to you services, products, applications, or skills provided by third parties for use on or through Grohood Services. You can tell when a third party is involved in your transactions, and we share customers’ personal information related to those transactions with that third party.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include fulfilling orders for products or services, delivering packages, sending postal mail and e-mail, removing repetitive information from customer lists, analysing data, providing marketing assistance, providing search results and links (including paid listings and links), processing payments, transmitting content, scoring, assessing and managing credit risk, and providing customer service. These third-party service providers have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes. Further, they must process the personal information in accordance with applicable law.
  • Business Transfers: As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy other businesses or services. In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets but remains subject to the promises made in any pre-existing Privacy Notice (unless, of course, the customer consents otherwise). Also, in the unlikely event that Grohood or Risio Technologies Private Limited or any of its affiliates, or substantially all of their assets are acquired, customer information will of course be one of the transferred assets.
  • Protection of Grohood and Others: We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; enforce or apply our Conditions of Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Grohood, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
  • The Company may be required to disclose personal information or Financial Information to governmental institutions or authorities when such disclosure is requisitioned under any law or judicial decree or when the Company, in its sole discretion, deems it necessary in order to protect its rights or the rights of others, to prevent harm to persons or property, to fight fraud and credit risk, or to enforce or apply the Terms of Use.
  • The Company may also disclose or transfer the personal and other information provided by Users, to any third party as a part of reorganization or a sale of the assets, division or transfer of a part or whole of the company. Any third party to which the Company transfers or sells its assets will have the right to continue to use the personal and other information that Users provide to the Company.

Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when personal information about you might be shared with third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.

9. How Secure Is Information About Me? 

We design our systems with your security and privacy in mind.

  • We work to protect the security of your personal information during transmission by using encryption protocols and software.
  • We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage, processing, and disclosure of personal customer information. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.
  • Our devices offer security features to protect them against unauthorized access and loss of data. 
  • It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computers, devices and applications. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer/Mobile. 
  • The Financial Information collected from the Users is transacted through secure digital platforms of approved payment gateways which are under encryption, thereby complying with reasonably expected technology standards. While the Company shall make reasonable endeavors to ensure that the User’s personal information and the Financial Information is duly protected by undertaking security measures prescribed under applicable laws, the User is strongly advised to exercise discretion while providing personal information or Financial Information while using the Services given that the Internet is susceptible to security breaches.
  • The Company has implemented security policies, rules and technical measures, as required under applicable law including firewalls, transport layer security and other physical and electronic security measures to protect the Financial Information and personal information that it has under its control from unauthorized access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorized modification and unlawful destruction or accidental loss. It is expressly stated that the Company shall not be responsible for any breach of security or for any action of any third parties that receive Users’ personal data or events that are beyond the reasonable control of the Company including, acts of government, computer hacking, unauthorized access to computer data and storage device, computer crashes, breach of security and encryption, etc.

10. What About Advertising?

Third-Party Advertisers and Links to Other Applications/Websites: Grohood may include third-party advertising and links to other websites and apps. Third-party advertising partners may collect information about you when you interact with their content, advertising, and services. 

Use of Third-Party Advertising Services: We provide ad companies with information that allows them to serve you with more useful and relevant Risio Technologies ads and to measure their effectiveness. We never share your name or other information that directly identifies you when we do this. Instead, we use an advertising identifier like a cookie or other device identifier. For example, if you have already downloaded one of our apps, we will share your advertising identifier and data about that event so that you will not be served an ad to download the app again. Some ad companies also use this information to serve you relevant ads from other advertisers. 

11. What Information Can I Access?

You can access your information, including your name, address, payment options, profile information, household settings, and purchase history in the “Your Account” section of the mobile application. 

12. What Choices Do I Have?

If you have any questions as to how we collect and use your personal information, please contact our Customer Care, Grievance department. Many of our Risio Technology Services also include settings that provide you with options as to how your information is being used

  • As described above, you can always choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of the Grohood Services.
  • You can add or update certain information on pages such as those referenced in What Information Can I Access?. When you update information, we usually keep a copy of the prior version for our records
  • If you don’t want to receive in-app notifications from us, please adjust your notification settings in the app or device
  • You will also be able to opt out of certain other types of data usage by updating your settings on the applicable Grohood application (e.g., in “Manage Your Content and Devices”), device, or application. Most non-Grohood devices also provide users with the ability to change device permissions (e.g., disable/access location services, contacts). For most devices, these controls are located in the device’s settings menu. If you have questions about how to change your device permissions on devices manufactured by third parties, we recommend you contact your mobile service carrier or your device manufacturer.
  • If a User wishes to remove his/her/its contact information from all the Company’s lists and newsletters, the User can click on the “unsubscribe” link or follow the instructions in each e-mail message. Alternatively, the User can contact the Company at [email protected]. The Company reserves the right to limit membership based on availability of contact information. All Users will be notified by email prior to any actions taken.

12. Are Children Allowed to Use Grohood Services ?

  • Grohood does not sell products for purchase by children. We sell children’s products for purchase by adults. If you are under the age of 18 years, you may use Grohood Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
  • The Company does not knowingly collect personal data from children (only persons above the aged of 18 shall be permitted to use the Services as provided in the Terms of Use). In an event, where in contravention of the Terms of Use, a person below the age of 18 uses the Services, the Company shall not be held liable or responsible for any damage or injury suffered by such person in logging into the Platforms and making use of the Services.

13. Conditions of Use, Notices , and Revisions

If you choose to use Grohood Services, your use and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Notice and our Conditions of Use, including limitations on damages, resolution of disputes, and application of the prevailing law in India. If you have any concern about privacy at Grohood, please contact us with a thorough description, and we will try to resolve it. Our business changes constantly, and our Privacy Notice will change also. You should check our application frequently to see recent changes. 

Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Notice applies to all information that we have about you and your account. We stand behind the promises we make, however, and will never materially change our policies and practices to make them less protective of customer information collected in the past without the consent of affected customers.

14. Examples of Information Collected

Information You Give Us When You Use Grohood Services

You provide information to us when you: 

  • search or shop for products or services in our marketplace;
  • add or remove an item from your cart, or place an order through or use Grohood Services; 
  • download, view, or use content on a device or through a service or application on a device;
  • provide information in Your Account (and you might have more than one if you have used more than one e-mail address or mobile number when shopping with us) or Your Profile
  • upload your contacts, including access to mobile device contacts for certain services;
  • configure your settings on, provide data access permissions for, or interact with a Grohood device or service;
  • communicate with us by phone, e-mail, or otherwise;
  • complete a questionnaire, a support ticket, or a contest entry form;
  • upload or stream images, videos or audio or other files while using Grohood Services;
  • participate in Discussion Boards or other community features;
  • provide and rate Reviews;
  • specify a Special Occasion Reminder; or
  • employ Product Availability Alerts, such as Available to Order Notifications.

As a result of those actions, you might supply us with such information as:

  • identifying information such as your name, address and phone numbers; 
  • payment information;
  • your age;
  • your location information;
  • your IP address;
  • people, addresses and phone numbers listed in your Addresses;
  • e-mail addresses of your friends and other people;
  • content of reviews and e-mails to us;
  • the personal description and photograph in Your Profile;
  • images, videos and other content collected or stored in connection with Grohood Services;
  • information and officially valid documents regarding identity and address information, including PAN numbers;
  • credit history information;
  • corporate and financial information; and
  • device log files and configurations, including Wi-Fi credentials, if you choose to automatically synchronize them with your other Grohood devices. 

Automatic Information

Examples of the information we collect and analyze include:

  • the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet;
  • login, e-mail address, and password;
  • the location of your device or computer;
  • content interaction information, such as content downloads, streams, and playback details, including duration and number of simultaneous streams and downloads, and network details for streaming and download quality, including information about your internet service provider; 
  • device metrics such as when a device is in use, application usage, connectivity data, and any errors or event failures;
  • Grohood Services metrics (e.g., the occurrences of technical errors, your interactions with service features and content, your settings preferences and backup information, location of your device running an application, information about uploaded images and files such as the file name, dates, times and location of your images);
  • version and time zone settings;
  • purchase and content use history, which we sometimes aggregate with similar information from other customers to create features like Grohood Bestsellers;
  • the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through, and from our application, including date and time; products and content you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, and page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs); 
  • phone numbers used to call our customer service number; and
  • images or videos when you shop in our marketplace using Grohood Services.

We may also use device identifiers, cookies, and other technologies on devices and applications, usage, or other technical information.

Information from Other Sources

Examples of information we receive from other sources include: 

  • updated delivery and address information from our carriers or other third parties, which we use to correct our records and deliver your next purchase or communication more easily; 
  • account information, purchase or redemption information and page-view information from some merchants with which we operate co-branded businesses or for which we provide technical, fulfillment, advertising or other services; 
  • information about your interactions with products and services offered by our affiliates;
  • search results and links, including paid listings (such as Sponsored Links);
  • information about internet-connected devices and services; and
  • credit history information from credit bureaus, which we use to help prevent and detect fraud and to offer certain credit or financial services to some customers.

Information You Can Access

Examples of information you can access through Grohood Services include: 

  • status of recent orders (including subscriptions); 
  • your complete order history;
  • personally identifiable information (including name, e-mail, password, and address book); 
  • payment settings (including payment method information, promotional certificate, and gift card balances and 1-Click settings); 
  • e-mail notification settings (including Product Availability Alerts, Delivers, Special Occasion Reminders and newsletters); 
  • recommendations and the products you recently viewed that are the basis for recommendations (including Recommended for You and Improve Your Recommendations); 
  • shopping lists and gift registries (including Wish Lists);
  • your content, devices, services, and related settings, and communications and personalized advertising preferences;
  • content that you recently viewed;
  • Your Profile (including your product Reviews, Recommendations, Reminders and personal profile);

15. Visitors Note

  1. No personal information or Financial Information is automatically collected from any visitors of the Platforms who are merely perusing or browsing the Platforms (“Visitor”). Nevertheless, the provisions of this Privacy Policy are applicable to Visitors, and Visitors are required to read, understand and accept the privacy statements set out herein, failing which they are required to leave the Platforms immediately.
  2. A User will not merely be a Visitor if the User has willingly submitted any personal information or Financial Information (including phone numbers, email addresses, responses to surveys, etc.) to the Company through any means, including email, telephone calls, telephonic messaging or while availing or signing-up for the Services. All such Visitors will be deemed to be, and will be treated as, Users for the purposes of this Privacy Policy, and in which case, all the statements in this Privacy Policy shall apply to the User.
  3. If you, as a Visitor, have inadvertently browsed any other pages of the Platforms prior to reading the privacy statements set out herein, and you do not agree with the manner in which such information is obtained, stored or used, merely quitting the Platforms should ordinarily clear all temporary cookies installed by the Company. All Visitors, however, are encouraged to use the “clear cookies” functionality on their browsers to ensure such clearing or deletion, as the Company cannot guarantee, predict or provide for the behavior of the equipment of all the Visitors of the Platforms.
  4. If you are accessing the Platforms from outside India, it is solely your responsibility to ensure that your access does not breach or violate any local or national law applicable in the place from where you are making the access, for the time being in force.
